If you intend to go skiing beyond the controlled environment of the ski resort, please do yourself a favor and get some avalanche training from a reputable school. Travel with experienced partners. Carry an avalanche beacon, probe, shovel, bivouac sack, repair kit and first aid kit. And be sure to check the avalanche bulletins and weather forecasts (Mountain Weather) before going anywhere! Familiarize yourself with the Avalanche Danger Scale and either phone or download the avalanche bulletin.
